Dream home.. or nightmare?

When I hear the phrase... "what is your dream home" instantly I think of a beautiful Craftsman home with crisp white molding and painted siding. I dream of watching my children swing on a tire swing hanging from the giant oak tree while I relax on our front porch. While Craftsman is what comes to my mind, someone else might lean towards a cape cod, with their predominant chimneys and steep roofs. Or maybe a log cabin with their cozy interiors and getaway like appeal. There are so many variations of homes and so many variations of people.

Everyone's definition of a dream home is different. For some people it may not be about the home itself at all, but rather the people in it.

I can come to conclude though that while we may all have different ideas of what a "dream home" is I can assure you that we expect them to be OURS.

We don't expect to finally get that dream home only to be surprised by permits that the contractor didn't close out properly.

Or that we can't turn our water on until the unrecorded water lien is paid off from a prior owner.

We don't expect a knock on our door with a court subpoena about a code enforcement violation that was resolved but the fees were never paid.

A dream.... can very quickly turn into a nightmare if not properly closed.
